August 27, 2025Ministry of Justice Welcomes Strong Sentences in Lautoka Drug Trafficking Case
The Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General today welcomed the strong sentences delivered by the Lautoka High Court in one of Fiji’s most serious drug trafficking cases
The following individuals were sentenced:
• Justin Steven Mashi Ho – Life imprisonment, non-parole period of 30 years
• David Otto Heritage – 55 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 25 years
• Jale Aukerea– 50 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 25 years
• Louie Frank Penijamini Logaivau – 25 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 18 years
• Sakiusa Tuva – 25 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 18 years
• Ratu Aporosa Davelevu – 14 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years
• Ratu Osea Naivalunilotu Levula – 17 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 13 years
• Cathy Tuirabe – 15 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years
• Viliame Colowaliku – 15 years’ imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years.
Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, commended the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for its diligent prosecution of the case, and acknowledged the Fiji Police Force for their tireless investigations which made these convictions possible.
“Illicit drugs represent one of the gravest threats to Fiji’s future. Today’s sentences send a clear and uncompromising message: those who choose to profit from poisoning our communities will face the full force of the law. I commend the Office of the DPP and the Fiji Police for their steadfast pursuit of justice in bringing this case to conclusion. The Ministry stands with our Judiciary, our law enforcement agencies, and the people of Fiji in protecting families and young people from the scourge of drugs.”
The Ministry reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to strengthening anti-drug measures across the justice system, including law enforcement cooperation, legislative review, and rehabilitation services.
This outcome serves as a strong deterrent and reinforces the Coalition Government’s vision of a safer, more secure Fiji for all.
