MINISTRY OF JUSTICE WELLNESS WEDNESDAY: RECOGNISING AND MANAGING STRESS
May 9, 2025The Ministry of Justice yesterday held a special celebration at its headquarters at Suvavou House in honour of Ratu Sir Josefa Lalabalavu Sukuna, one of Fiji’s greatest leaders and nation-builders.
In his address to staff, the Minister for Justice, Hon. Siromi Turaga, paid tribute to Ratu Sukuna’s visionary leadership, selfless service, and enduring legacy. “Ratu Sukuna was more than a national hero — he was a pioneer, a servant leader who laid the foundation for modern Fiji,” the Minister said. “His life was a testament to purpose-driven leadership, humility, and unity.”
As part of the celebration, staff representing the three confederacies — Burebasaga, Kubuna, and Tovata — joined in unity through choral performances, symbolising the spirit of togetherness that Ratu Sukuna so strongly championed.
The Minister reminded all staff that every role in the Ministry — whether legal, administrative, or support-based — plays a vital part in honouring Ratu Sukuna’s legacy by strengthening a justice system that is fair, accessible, and compassionate.
“Let our truest tribute to Ratu Sukuna be in how we carry ourselves today,” Hon. Turaga said. “With integrity, empathy, and professionalism, we must continue building a Fiji that works for all its people.”
As we mark Ratu Sukuna Day today, the Ministry of Justice encourages all Fijians to reflect on the values of unity, service, fairness, and nationhood that Ratu Sukuna embodied.
Happy Ratu Sukuna Day from all of us at the Ministry of Justice!
