Decorum Expected of Public Office Holders
May 5, 2025This week’s Wellness Wednesday at the Ministry of Justice headquarters took on a unique and meaningful focus—mental health in the workplace.
Recognising the importance of supporting staff well-being, the Permanent Secretary for Justice, Ms. Selina Kuruleca, led an engaging and insightful session on “Stress Management and Asking for Help.” The presentation explored the differences between positive stress (eustress) and negative stress (distress) and highlighted practical strategies for managing both.
Ms. Kuruleca underscored that while stress is a part of life, how we choose to respond to it is within our control. She demonstrated self-regulation techniques to help staff remain calm and grounded in high-pressure situations, encouraging a proactive and compassionate approach to mental health.
The session served as a powerful reminder that mental health is just as vital as physical health. It was well received by staff, who found it both informative and empowering.
The Ministry of Justice is dedicated to fostering a supportive and healthy work environment through initiatives like Wellness Wednesday, which continue to promote the overall well-being of its staff.
