January 29, 2026The Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, officiated as the Chief Guest at the Namaka Public School 2026 Prefectsโ Induction ceremony on Tuesday 24 February. Addressing the vibrant school community, Hon. Siromi Turaga celebrated the 120 newly appointed student leaders who were selected from a student body of 1,400. These students were chosen for their hard work, exemplary behavior, and the positive way they treat their peers.
Centering his address on the school motto, โDeeds Not Words,โ Hon. Turaga reminded the inductees that true leadership is defined by action rather than talk. He emphasized that for every prefect, there are more than 10 other students looking to them for guidance. He urged the new leaders to use their positions not to be a “boss,” but to help those who are struggling and to show kindness to all.
The Minister further highlighted the importance of holistic education at Namaka Public School, which focuses on developing character and heart alongside academic growth. Quoting 1 Timothy 4:12, he encouraged the students to set an example in speech, conduct, love, and faith, regardless of their young age. He noted that by living out these values, they are already becoming leaders in the eyes of the nation.
Hon. Turaga also extended his gratitude to the parents, guardians, and teachers for their dedication to the students. He acknowledged that the childrenโs success is a reflection of the love and values taught at home and the commitment of the staff, led by Head of School Mr. Arvind Kumar. He reminded the educators that they are not just teaching lessons but are actively building the future of Fiji.
In his closing remarks, the Minister congratulated the 120 new leaders and called on them to be brave and kind in their new roles. The induction ceremony concluded with a blessing for the students and the nation, reinforcing the spirit of service and leadership for the academic year ahead.
