January 27, 2026The Ministry of Justice and the Office of the Attorney-General held its combined Thanksgiving Church Service on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, focusing on spiritual wellness, bringing together leaders and staff across agencies to begin the year in reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment to public service.
In his keynote address, Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, highlighted unity, diligence, and integrity as essential pillars for success in 2026. He emphasized that Government’s progress— including a record 44 Bills passed in 2025— is driven by the dedication of public servants, whom he described as Government’s most valuable resource.
The Minister called on agencies under his portfolio to break down silos, strengthen collaboration, and uphold the highest ethical standards in serving the people of Fiji. He also urged institutions to step up in addressing pressing national challenges such as drug abuse and HIV, reaffirming that justice must extend beyond legal systems to societal wellbeing.
The sermon was delivered by Reverend Tevita Kete, who reflected on Proverbs 2:1–9, underscoring the pursuit of divine wisdom as the foundation for justice, righteousness, and equity. He reminded attendees that justice is not only a legal principle but a “good path” that guides, protects, and strengthens moral decision-making in everyday life.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to serving with integrity, strengthening public trust, and working together in unity to build a stronger, fairer, and more resilient Fiji in the year ahead.
