November 26, 2025The Minister for Justice and Acting Attorney-General, Hon. Siromi Turaga, continued his official program in Honiara, Solomon Islands, with a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening cooperation and sharing innovations in justice sector reform.
Hon. Turaga first met with his counterpart, the Minister for Justice and Legal Affairs of Solomon Islands, Hon. Clezy Rore, where he provided an update on Fiji’s recent justice sector developments. He informed Hon. Rore of the launch of Fiji’s Road to Reform: Law and Justice Sector Roadmap 2025–2029, our framework that will guide Fiji’s efforts to modernise, streamline, and strengthen justice delivery over the next five years.
During the discussions, both Ministers reflected on the shared priorities of their Ministries, reaffirming their commitment to the Twinning Program established earlier this year under the Memorandum of Understanding. Hon. Turaga emphasised the importance of continued regional partnerships to support mutual growth, professional exchange, and institutional development.
Following the ministerial meeting, Hon. Turaga paid a courtesy call to the Chief Justice of Solomon Islands, His Lordship Sir Albert Palmer. Discussions centred on judicial cooperation, opportunities for knowledge sharing, and alignment of reforms that enhance access to justice across the Pacific region.
A detailed presentation on the Justice Information Management System (JIMS), a pioneering innovation developed in the Solomon Islands was also provided.
Hon. Turaga also held further meetings with the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Public Solicitor, and the Registrar-General of Solomon Islands. These engagements focused on strengthening linkages between equivalent institutions, exploring capacity-building opportunities, and identifying potential areas for technical collaboration under the Twinning Program.
